-T.S. Eliot
For years I have had dreams of writing for a big city publication. Recently I have realized it is not what you write for or what you write, it is how you write it. With passion and creativity, a turtle race is able to captivate anyone...an oil spill can be a page turner...a lost dog can break a heart.
My name is Lesley Patterson and I love to write.
I am a junior at the University of Oklahoma and am majoring in journalism and mass communication with a minor in sociology. I have known I was a journalist since I broke the "Who spilled the paint?" mystery in the 4th grade. As for sociology, it is interesting and gives me a sense of the human psyche. I have written for many magazine publications and have learned how to get exactly what I want.
I have interviewed an 81-year-old man, successfully assembled 18 interviews with professional golfers in two weeks and put together a six-page fashion shoot with no funds. There is nothing I cannot handle, correction, there is nothing I will not attempt to handle.
Summer 2008 I will be one of the 38 interns for the American Society of Magazine Editors. Out of 800 people, I was chosen and intend to get all that I can out of the experience. I have written for newspapers and magazines alike. I look forward to writing for anything I can get my hands on and cannot wait to see where life takes me.
